Current: Graduated High School June 2003

Objective: To go to college and take a recreation and leisure services program and become the manager of an aquatics facility.

 

EMPLOYMENT

December 2003 Port Hole Pool

Promotion to Senior Lifeguard/ Instructor, Duties: Ensuring the safety of all patrons and staff. Testing water in pool to ensure that P.H, FAC, TAC, and T.A levels match health regulations, ensuring that all staff are familiar with emergency procedures.

Winter 2003/ 04 Superior Slopes Ski Hill. Rental attendant. Duties: Selecting proper ski or snow-boards for patrons, adjusting bindings, inspecting equipment and emergency chairlift evacuation training.

September 2003- Present Town of Marathon. Rink Attendant. Duties: ensuring safety of patrons.

September 2003 Town of Marathon. Hazardous Waste Disposal. Duties: receiving, sorting and preparing hazardous waste for safe disposal.

September-October 2003 Mac’s Convenience. Peninsula Road, Marathon Ontario. Assistant Manager.

March-June 2003 Margaret Twomey Public School (Co-op placement) P.O. Box 660, Marathon Ontario

Duties: Assisting students in math, Geography, and English. Also teaching drama classes.

Duties: Cashier, Food handling and preparation, Inventory, Training new staff, Cleaning and serving customers

September 2002- Present Marathon Port Hole Pool, Peninsula Rd. Marathon Ontario

Duties: Lifeguard. Watching over the patrons. Ensure safety of patrons by enforcing the rules and disciplining the offenders. Cleaning pool area after every shift. Also on a special shift, scrub scum lines, deck, and general pool area.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

Summer 2002 Apprentice Artist- Ganaraska Summer Stage. Duties: Took intense classes on stage performance, makeup, dance, and professional voice coaching. Performed Bugsy Mallone and West side story with professional Equity Actors.

June 2002 Marathon Music Festival

Duties: In charge of Entertainers and Stage Management duties. Organizing when performers were to enter and exit the stage area and keeping the dressing rooms under lock and key.

2001 Marathon Renegades

Duties: Manager of media relations; Reporting game statistics and highlights to CFNO, MVC-TV and the Marathon Mercury.

2000-2002 Marathon Volunteer TV Station, Assistant Manager Marathon, Ontario

Duties: Keeping track of locations for shoots and designing sets and making sure the other seven volunteers were where they needed to be when they needed to be there.

1997- 2004  (Retired) Royal Canadian Air Cadets ( WO1 )

Duties: Instructing cadets, supervising instructors, teaching leadership skills, assisting with community work and the organization of events, administration, maintaining discipline and order.

 

2000-Present Marathon Entertainment Series,

Duties: Lighting technician, worked with performers, planned appropriate lighting, setup and takedown, controlled lighting.

1999/2000 Abolition of Racism Committee, Marathon High School, initiated school newspaper designed to address racial issues, participated at the Multi cultural Youth conference in Thunder Bay and presented ideas from that conference to the school.

2001 Marathon High School Code of Conduct Revision Committee, assisted with revision of student handbook

2002/2003 Marathon High School Improvement Planning Team, student representative, helped to brainstorm ideas to improve communication and boost student morale

2002 Marathon High School Drug and Alcohol Prevention Committee, assisted in planning, set-up, demonstrations and dismantling of safe driving presentation in the Marathon Arena.

March - June 2001 Marathon High School Drug and Alcohol Prevention Committee, participated in Safe Party/ Drug Prevention activities including school billboard, drama and website development
